The Man From Florida Running for Presidency
In the past few months, Ron DeSantis has been making strategic moves to etch himself toward the presidential candidacy. In his race to win, he has come out with many movements that every American should take notice. There are some good things he has done and there are some troubling things he has done. The question is which ones outweigh the other?
For the past few years since DeSantis became governor, there have been some really hard situations that NO governor has had to deal with. As soon as he became governor, he was faced with a pandemic that struck our nation hard. Having to deal with the shutdown which ravaged our community, he in some instances took the bull by the horns and made some concessions on what needed to be done. When Biden said everyone should get vaccinated, Ron DeSantis said not so and wouldn’t enforce that decision. He allowed Florida families to make the decisions for themselves as to what they wanted to do. What he failed to tell his native Floridians was that the vaccine was mandatory for all officials in government. So, he himself and his family had to get the vaccine. In fact, he has been one of the biggest players in the opposition to the vaccine. If he received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, he and his family, why was it such a big deal for him to tell Floridians not to get it?
DeSantis was determined to keep Florida open and functioning during the pandemic. When everyone else was closed down and bunkered in their homes, Florida was open and having fun. This helped Florida stay financially healthy in some instances because people were still allowed to work and move freely throughout the state. However, due to his refusal to keep Florida shut down over 34 thousand people lost their lives, leaving Florida having one of the highest death tolls in America. Does this mean staying open was more important than Floridian lives? Our death rate was at 111% in 2021 and millions of others who got sick are still having problems with their health. If we had followed suit with other states there is a question as to how badly off, we would really be, seeing that so many other states are starting to bounce back in full force now.
In looking at all the information concerning Ron DeSantis, there are some key areas we really need to view if we want to get a full picture of who he is as a Floridian, a man, and a politician. Because like most people, he is multifaceted. In the past few months before he announced his election, everyone felt it was coming. Yet, he took his time before he gave the news and started setting the stage for people to see him in a different light. The question becomes, was that light different or was it something he has always been from the beginning?
As we start to see what Ron DeSantis believes and what he stands for, there may be some reason to question who he is for and what he wants to take place in America. His message is to reunite the people of America and get back to business as usual. But who exactly will that benefit? How will it affect us all? And should certain groups of people be worried? Check back with our next story to find out more about the man from Florida who has decided to challenge Donald Trump for the presidency.
