Health is wealth – a series with the intent to help us build physical wealth to ensure long life and prosperity.
By being physically fit, it can make a person look lean both inside and out. There is a lot of activities people can do such as jogging or walking in the morning or late evening, playing basketball or any other sport with friends. If a person wants to have muscles and look lean, the best thing to do will be to sign up and workout in a gym.
Just like taking any medicine, one should first consult the doctor before undergoing any form of exercise.
Physical exercise is beneficial because it helps maintain and improve health against a variety of diseases and premature death. It also makes a person feel happier and increases self-esteem, helping to prevent one from falling into depression or anxiety. It has also shown to make a person with an active lifestyle live longer than a person who doesn’t.
The best exercise plan should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase metabolism and allow for weight gain or loss.
A person who has never worked out before should do so gradually. Excessive exercise for the first time can cause muscle strain. If you have recovered from a previous injury, this zealous start can cause re-injury and make recovery worse. Endurance will never be built in a day. Gradual growth repeatedly will ensure sustainable gains.
Focusing on a certain portion of the body can help sculpt improvements. A good example is going to the gym and doing a workout more often in a specific area such as the biceps or chest press, will expand those muscles rapidly, but cause uneven development of your body.
beauty is not only about having muscles which people can see. It is also about enhancing the beauty within.
Here are some things one can do every day to stay beautiful and healthy.
Read
Reading books and other reading material keeps the mind sharp and builds vocabulary just like working out keeps the body in shape.
Relieve Stress
Strenuous exercise no matter what kind produces stress. One can reduce this by taking the time out to do something special for yourself to relax on a regular basis, like lying in a hot tub, shopping, or watching a movie. Studies have shown these and others as a stress reliever and help one from looking wearied and worn.
Protect Against Pollution
Pollution is something an individual cannot readily control given the size of the problem. When you go out, it is best to put some form of protection on your skin to protect you from the environmental concerns you can’t see. Beauty products and lotions that contain antioxidants are best to provide your skin with a layer of protection from damage. Consult a dermatologist on the best products for long term skincare, these can be over the counter or prescription depending on how much melanin you have. They say the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice and the darker the skin the deeper the roots.
Give Up Vices
Another way to stay healthy is to give up some vices. The population of Black Americans who smoke is 18% (21% male / 15% female) according to the University of California San Fransico1. The population of Black Americans who struggled with alcohol addiction is 7.4% out of the approximate 43.5% of African American adults (aged 12 and older) who currently drink alcohol at the time of the 2013 survey.2 Smoking has been proven to cause lung cancer, other diseases, as well as complications for women giving birth. Excessive drinking has also shown to do the same.
Avoid Second-hand Smoke
For nonsmokers, it is best to stay away from people who do. Studies have shown that nonsmokers are also at risk of developing cancer due to secondary smoke inhalation. While African Americans have a lower number of smokers than other racial and ethnic groups, African American children and adults are more likely to be exposed to secondhand smoke than any other racial or ethnic group.1
Stay Positive
Lastly, it is best to always start the day with a positive outlook. Just as studies have shown that exercise makes a person feel happier, smiling produces the same effect. A smile can do a lot and it is contagious in a positive sense. It brightens the day of not only you but others around you as well.
