Dr. King learned racism is a system. They want to honor Dr. King’s legacy as non violent, but not honor his fight for economic injustice and reparations for Black Americans. Dr. King’s legacy lives on and it continues to empower young Black Americans everyday.
Before his life was cut short, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called for a guaranteed income to counter the centuries of economic injustice Black Americans have endured, while white Americans were able to utilize several government programs in the form of land, subsidies and education. We honor his legacy today through a commitment to advocating for an economy that works for all.
