WBQP TV is independently owned by Vernon and Mary Lynn Watson which signed on the air in June 1992 and was the first African American-owned TV Station on the Gulf Coast and was the first “WB” (Warner Bros.) Television Network affiliate in the market. WBQP has been broadcasting on VHF Channel 12 for the past 30 years in the greater Pensacola area. In 2022, WBQP leased a channel on a full-power television station channel 53.4 on WPAN TV 53 to get full market coverage. WBQP is now a full-market TV station and covers 12 counties in Alabama and Florida.
